Frequently Asked Questions

How is a dedicated server different from a VPS? When should I move up?

A VPS is a slice of a larger machine. A dedicated server is the whole machine, with CPU and RAM shared with nobody. The signs it is time to move: your largest VPS plan is no longer enough, you need performance that stays constant instead of varying with the neighbours on the host, or you have a requirement that data must not sit on shared hardware.

Why do some machines show as unavailable?

Because these are physical machines and there is a finite number of them — unlike a VPS, a new one cannot be created on demand. When every unit of a given configuration is rented out, it shows as unavailable until one is released or new hardware is racked. Ask about the queue and about comparable configurations.

Can I administer the server myself? How much knowledge does it take?

You get full root access, so you control everything — which also means you are responsible for everything: installing the operating system, applying security updates, configuring the firewall, and recovering the machine when something breaks. If nobody on your team does systems administration, a VPS with a ready-made control panel is usually the better value in practice.

What is the difference between ECC and non-ECC RAM?

ECC (Error-Correcting Code) memory detects and corrects memory errors on its own, which reduces the chance of silent data corruption or unexplained crashes. It suits long-running workloads such as databases and systems that must not go down. Non-ECC is faster per baht and is fine for workloads you can simply restart.

Where are the servers, and what is the network like?

Bangkok, Thailand, in The Cloud @ CSLoxinfo, on a 1 Gbps connection with a 99.9% uptime guarantee. Storage is SSD in RAID-10, which gives you both speed and survivability if a single disk fails.
